Little Miss Teagan Rae was ready to enter the world! She came five weeks early, weighing only 4 pounds.
Teagan was treated in the special care nursery at the Women’s Pavilion at ECM Hospital for 10 days.
Her parents, Tracy and Chad Burdine are grateful their baby could be cared for right here in Florence. “It’s been great. The staff is phenomenal. I know every single nurse. It’s like we’ve become a little family,” said Tracy. “The nurses have never been too busy to help. It’s not just a job for them. You can tell they really care.”
With tears in her eyes, Tracy got emotional when thinking about the possibility of her baby being transported to another hospital for care. “I couldn’t imagine what that would be like. Chad would have to stay here, and I would be all by myself.”
“Being here at ECM and staying in the Shoals made the world of difference,” added Chad. “She’s tiny but I thank God she’s here. She may get to go home tomorrow. She’s a fighter.”
The Women’s and Children’s staff at ECM Hospital has been preparing for special care babies, as they gear up for the transition to North Alabama Medical Center.
