ECM East Diagnostic Imaging Center has installed the AquilionTM 64 CT (computed tomography) Scanner, with an AIDR 3D dose saving upgrade. With multislice imaging technology that captures up to 128 slices in a single rotation, the scanner emits about 1/3 of the radiation as other CT scanners in use.
“Safety is a priority for our patients. With this low dose machine, we can minimize radiation exposure while still providing razor-sharp images, ensuring fast and accurate diagnosis in all parts of the body,” said Russell Pigg, CEO, Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital.
In addition to fast CT scans, ECM East Diagnostic Imaging Center expects to significantly increase its exam capacity, which means more patients can receive the treatment they need faster and be referred to surgery or discharged from the hospital.
“Shoals residents have immediate access to the best CT technology available today. I’m proud to say that ECM Hospital is the only healthcare facility in the area that provides the 128 slice CT scanner with low dose technology,” said Charlotte Perkins, Manager, ECM East Imaging Center and Tri-State Center for Breast Health. “For patients with blood clots, infections and diseases like cancer, early diagnosis with the 128 slice scanner may result in a much faster treatment and improved outcomes.”
The low dose upgrade technology includes dose check software with dose notifications and alert features.
